Maldives' is off to a difficult start of the CAVA Under 20 championship, but showed a promising play.
Maldives has lost the opening match of the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) under 20 championship against Kyrgyzstan.
The match was played yesterday at Malé Youth Centre, where Kyrgystan took the lead over Maldives, ending the match with 25-11, 25-11, and 17-25 scores.
Although Maldives found it difficult to stop Kyrgystan's services and attacks, the team showed a promising play during the last set of the match. Maya Hussain Solah, from Maldives sent through some good attacks and also showed good performance playing on the defence as well.
The second match of the competition was played last night between Nepal and Sri Lanka with Sri Lanka taking the winning points with 25-20, 24-26 and 25-18 points.
With four teams playing the competition, Maldives played against Sri Lanka at 04:00 pm today and will face off against Nepal tomorrow evening.
The semi finals of the competition will he played on Monday, with the final and third place determining match scheduled for Tuesday.
