President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed a new State Minister for Gender, Family and Social Services as well as a Deputy Attorney General on Wednesday.
President’s Office revealed that Ifham Hussain was appointed as the third State Minister of Gender. Ifham, who was the Managing Director of Autism Association previous to this post, is also former President Mohamed Waheed’s sister-in-law.
Ifham attained her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and Masters of Education from the University of Southern Queensland.
Moreover, Ifham received the International Award ‘Princess Haya for special education’ in May 2015. She also received the “Disability Award” in 2016, and the National Award (Rehendhi) in 2017, for participation and contribution for women in the social sector.
Meanwhile, Khadeeja Shabeen was appointed as the Deputy Attorney General at the Attorney General’s Office.
Khadeeja Shabeen attained Master of Laws from National University of Singapore and also completed Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from University of Melbourne. She has work experience at the President’s Office, Attorney General’s Office and several other law firms.
