Three families relocated, 57 homes flood in Kulhudhuffushi

In addition to the 57 houses in Kulhudhuffushi, two homes in Haa Alifu atoll Hoarafushi, five homes in Shaviyani atoll Feevah, and five homes in Noomara of the same atoll have also sustained damages.

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has reported that 57 homes in Haa Dhaalu atoll Kulhudhuffushi were flooded due to heavy rains in the northern Maldives last night, resulting in the relocation of three families.

Photos released by NDMA show significant water damage in some homes, damaging both living areas and furnishings. In addition to the 57 houses in Kulhudhuffushi, two homes in Haa Alifu atoll Hoarafushi, five homes in Shaviyani atoll Feevah, and five homes in Noomara of the same atoll have also sustained damages.

Only the three homes in Kulhudhuffushi required evacuation due to the severe conditions.

According to the Maldives Meteorological Services (MET Office), Kulhudhuffushi experienced the heaviest rainfall in the past 24 hours, with 118.9 mm recorded.

While there is no weather advisory currently in effect, the MET Office forecasts wind speeds of around 35 miles per hour and rough seas.
