The Supreme Court on Wednesday, decided to throw out Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP)'s case to appeal the Civil Court's order to pay MVR 1.1 million to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
Upon appealing the case, the apex court decided to hold a procedural hearing in 2018 prior to accepting the appeal.
According to the court, DRP was unable to provide evidence to back its claim that the Civil Court's decision was invalid.
The procedural hearing was presided over Supreme Court Justice Aishath Shujune Mohamed, Judge Dr Azmiralda Zahir and Judge Husnu al-Suood.
The party was sued by MTCC after failing to pay for services contracted by the party from 2007 to 2009. The lower court's decision in 2014 was upheld by the High Court in 2017.
DRP was also sued by the HUB Company to repay MVR 700,000, while the Civil Court also ordered the company to repay its debt of MVR 510,497 to Island Aviation Services (IAS).
