The World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation has announced that the World Bodybuilding Championship will be hosted in the Maldives next year.
President of Bodybuilding Association Ibrahim Hameed, met with President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, who will be sworn in as President next month, informing him of the opportunity for the Maldives to host this event.
"The President-elect endorsed the initiative, affirming government support," said Ibrahim Hameed, who also serves as the Vice President of the Asian Bodybuilding Federation.
World Bodybuilding Federation President Datuk Paul Chua Congratulated the Maldives on hosting the World Championships, and expressed his relief upon hearing that President-elect Dr. Muizzu had officially approved the 15th World Championships in the Maldives.
Paul Chua, who attended the 2022 Asian Bodybuilding Championships in the Maldives, had previously expressed his intention to secure the opportunity for the country to host the World Championships.
The 14th edition of the World Championships is set to take place in South Korea from November 6-12, where local athletes would be taking part in the competition.
Azneen Rashad from Maldives secured the gold medal at the 13th World Championships held last year, becoming the first Maldivian athlete to win a gold medal at the World Championships.
