Police said that they received reports of sexual abuse of a girl under the age of eighteen in an island in central Maldives.
As the case involves a child, investigations are being conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Family and Social Development, they said.
As per the law, Police do not reveal the island or atoll in cases involving children so as to protect their identities.
