Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), on Sunday, revealed that the three victims of the recent gas explosion, currently receiving treatment, were in stable condition.
A total of seven men were taken to IGMH on Wednesday after being injured during a gas explosion aboard a boat named 'Best Line' which was docked at North Male' Harbour.
IGMH spokesperson Ismail Ahmed revealed to local media Mihaaru that the most severely injured man would be transferred from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to the High Dependency Unit within the day.
More than 80 percent of the Bangladeshi citizen's body was severely burned in the incident.
The 52-year-old local and 32-year-old Bangladeshi national that sustained burns covering around 25-30 percent of their bodies are also being treated at the High Dependency Unit.
Furthermore, three other crew members brought to the hospital with burns covering 20 percent of their bodies were discharged from the hospital earlier.
Two individuals were discharged from the hospital on Wednesday after being treated for smoke inhalation.
According to the police, the explosion took place after gas started leaking from cylinders stored in the boat's cargo hold. The investigation revealed that a total of 83 cylinders were found to be leaking and that a large number of goods were placed directly on top of the gas cylinders.
The boat, which regularly travels between the atolls of Addu and Gaafu Dhaalu, was not damaged during the incident.
