Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) received MVR 1.98 billion in revenue in September.
This is an increase by 135.5 percent compared to September 2020. It is also an increase by 8.6 percent of the estimated revenue generated in September.
MIRA has said the revenue in September 2020 was due to postponements provided regarding the tourism land rent. However, as the land rent have to be paid within the deadline now, this year's revenue has increased. Additionally the deadline for income tax for the first interim was also in September, and these payments also contributed to the increased revenue.
MIRA noted that September saw an increase in GST, Green Tax, and Airport Tax as well.
The highest percentage for the revenue generated in September was due to income tax. They received MVR 745 million in income tac and MVR 533.11 million in GST. Tourism land rent amounted to MVR. 410.14 million.
The revenue MIRA has accepted in September included USD 63.45 million as well.
