The two officers were amongst five persons accused of kidnapping a 30 year old, torturing them, and cutting off a finger.
The two MNDF Officers arrested in the case are Mohamed Nafah, Fullmoon, K. Maafushi, and Ahmed Zayan, Link, Thun'di, L. Gan.
An MNDF Media Official said that these two have been suspended as they are under arrest and being investigated in a case of kidnapping.
Police commenced investigations into this case when the victim was taken to Hulhumale' Hospital with serious injuries, prompting the Police officers on duty there to investigate. The victim was taken to hospital by his mother.
The old victim had sustained serious physical injuries, including bruising in his left eye. He had sustained burn injuries across his body, and severe bruising and other wounds appearing to have been inflicted through violence. One finger of his left hand had been cut off from the knuckle.
The other three arrested in the case are Ali Sami of Mehura, Raa atoll Kan'dholhudhoo, Ahmed Saaif Waheed of Hudhuveli, Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Gahdhoo, and Mohamed Nahushan Hussain of Uthuruge-Aage, Thaa atoll Thimarafushi.
Criminal Court has placed Nafaah in custody until the investigation is concluded, and the four others in remand in custody until the end of trial. Some have prior criminal records.
In addition to these five, three minors were also involved in the abduction and torture, which the Police are looking into further.
