Bar Council President Ismail Visham has passed away late last night.
Close associates said it was a sudden death, and Visham was discovered fallen in his residence. The cause of his death is so far unknown.
Just 39 years of age, Visham had previously filled the position of Assistant Attorney General.
Visham had vast experience in the field, having been counted among the ranks of experienced lawyers in the country who have worked on several major cases.
He had achieved his Masters degree from Malaysia's Islamic University in 2008. He was also an associate member of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators since 2011.
He started his career in law at the Suood and Anwar Law Firm. Later on, he opened his own law firm in 2016. He also lectured on business and commercial law courses part-time.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu posted a message of condolence to family and members of the Bar Council through social media upon hearing news of the passing of Visham.
He described the loss of Visham as an irredeemable loss to the legal field.
The President said that the nation has lost a young, educated, industrious individual.
