Ibadhulla sets personal record, satisfied with performance

Ibadulla finished fifth in the fourth heat of the preliminary round with a time of 10.55 seconds.

Maldives athlete Ibadulla Adam, who set a personal record in the 100m sprint at the Paris Olympics, expressed satisfaction with his performance despite not advancing to the second round after the preliminary race.

Ibadulla finished fifth in the fourth heat of the preliminary round with a time of 10.55 seconds. The athletes who qualified from the heat include Haiti’s Christopher Borzor (10.26), Angola’s Marcos Santos (10.31), Comoros’ Hakeem Maroufou (10.44), and Iraq’s Taha Hussein Yaseen (10.51).

Ibadulla's previous record was 10.61 seconds. The national record for the event is 10.33 seconds, set by Hassan Saaid.

Ibadhulla said that he was satisfied with his performance at his first Olympics, and breaking his own record and finishing fifth in the heat.

“I look forward to more opportunities in the future to compete at this level,” Ibadhulla who took his training from Jamaica said.

"I thank my family and all my coaches, especially the SprinTec Track Club team and coach Maurice Wilson."

Ibadulla, who also holds the country's junior 100m record, qualified for the Olympics by finishing first in the rankings, surpassing Saaid, who competed in the last Olympics.
