Maldivian badminton star, Nabaha's final match in the Olympic's badminton event's Group M observed her demonstrating a steadfast and spirited performance despite her loss to Estonia's Kristin Kuuba.
Kuuba, a bronze medalist at the Junior Badminton Championships 2015 had triumphed over Nabaha in two straight sets at scores of 21-7, 21-9.
Nabaha had displayed an even stronger performance in this match than what was observed in her previous match against India's PV Sindhu, fiercely exerting herself to avoid surrendering easy points.
Sindhu, who claimed medals in the last two Olympics, and Kuuba, who sits at 74th in the global ranking are set to compete tomorrow from this group which consists of three contenders. Nabaha, after losing her match against Kuuba will not be continuing in the Olympics.
The local badminton star remains the first Maldivian athlete to secure a spot in Olympics twice in a row. The Olympic Tripartite Committee had offered her the chance to compete in the Olympic Games this year in recognition of her promising performance during the Olympic qualifiers.
