The end-of-year school holidays commenced, following the official conclusion of the 2019 academic year on Thursday, with all education pledges completed, said Minister of Education Dr Aishath Ali.

Minister Aishath highlighted the successful completion of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's pledges to provide breakfast for students as well as implementing an anti-bullying policy across the country.
Furthermore, she stated that efforts are underway to review textbooks and other teaching materials, noting challenges in teaching the new curriculum.
Additional pledges include government funding of undergraduate degrees, with a total of MVR 3 billion allocated from the state budget towards the education sector.
The 2020 academic year is slated to commence on January 12.
