Commissioner of Police (CP) Ali Shujau has stated that overseas assistance will be sought to investigate the cause of the fire that broke out in three ministry buildings and an office of the Male' City Council on Thursday.
In a press conference held at Dharubaaruge, CP Shujau provided updates on the incident, and said that all police resources were deployed to assist the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) in extinguishing the fire.
He assured that the police would conduct a thorough investigation into the major fire incident and would seek help from an overseas team to support the investigation. The CP said that updates would be shared with the public as the investigation progresses.

The fire first broke out at the Housing Ministry at approximately 6:30 AM on Thursday and quickly spread to Construction Ministry and adjacent Environment Ministry. The fire was brought under control after four hours, but significant damage was caused to the buildings.
