Following months of "transformational" renovations, Seaside Finolhu is slated to welcome guests on October 1.

The resort temporarily closed its doors on March 25, aiming to modernise the property and its facilities by developing a "distinctive barefoot chic atmosphere", encompassing its guest villas, restaurants and public areas, in addition to the development of an indoor golf studio.

Although the management prepared to launch the renovated resort on July, the unprecedented travel ban as a result of the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, forced the resort to reschedule for an October unveiling.

“We are thrilled to show our guests the results of our exciting resort transformation as we prepare to welcome them in October", said Finolhu's General Manager Marc Reader.

Owner and Managing Partner of Seaside Collection, Gregor Gerlach previously said that "our vision for Seaside Finolhu is to bring a modern, bright, open sense of feeling where travellers can experience special moments and enjoy themselves".

Award-winning London-based design studio 'Muza Lab' was charged with overseeing the resort’s redesign, to be completed by the second quarter of 2020.

“Our new design direction focuses on the lens of the “Kaleidoscope”, the changing colours, patterns and textures representing moments of discovery, wonder and delight”, explained Mizu Lab's co-founder Nathan Hutchins.

Seaside Finolhu will also introduce revamped names and concepts for its four restaurants and spa.

Operated by German Hotel Company 'Seaside Collection', Finolhu became the first Maldivian resort to join the prestigious Design Hotels Group, the globally-recognized resource for curated design-led hotels.

Seaside Finolhu is located in the UNESCO-protected Biosphere Reserve of Baa Atoll, a marine area renowned for being frequented by megafauna including turtles, whale sharks and manta rays.
