Bank of Maldives (BML) has increased the foreign transaction limit on debit cards of individuals going on Umrah during Ramadan and the first six days of Shawwal to USD 1500.
BML said that transactions within this increased limit can only be made in Saudi Arabia. Each customer can have the limit extended on one debit card.
BML said that Umrah tour groups have been informed of the procedures to apply for this limit for those travelling under their care so as to ease the process for Umrah travellers.
Those travelling independently must submit a passport copy and ticket copy via the BML mobile app five days before travelling to apply for the extension.
In addition to this USD 1500, the cards will also have the current USD 250 foreign transaction allocation. Pilgrims can also purchase USD 500 in cash from the bank as is applicable to all travellers.
