13 Hafizes receive medal for Quran memorization

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has awarded special medal to a total of 13 Hafiz for first-degree pass for their memorization of the Holy Quran.

Hafizes were awarded at a special ceremony held at Dharubaaruge on Friday evening, November 11.

One among the memorizers, Aman Ahmed (Baa Atoll Hithaadhoo), is the youngest to achieve the special medal in 2022.

Ahmed showed love for Quran and made attempts to memorize the holy text at an early age. He achieved full memorization within a year.

He achieved certification of being recognized as a Hafiz earlier in October 14, 2022. He was eight at the time of achieving the title.

Hafiz, an Arabic word for "memorizer" is used for people who have completely memorized the Holy Quran.

President Solih described Ahmed as the most valuable "gift" the nation discovered during this year's Republic Day. The special medal awarding ceremony was held at the commemorative ceremony for Maldives Republic Day, falling on November 11.

Apart from Ahmed, the other 12 Hafizes are;

- Fathimath Fauziyya (Seenu Atoll Hithadhoo)

- Shifa Binth Abdulla Hameed (Laamu Atoll Gan)

- Hoodh Mohamed Ali (Fuvahmulah City)

- Mohamed Anees Hussain (Fuvahmulah City)

- Shafiyya Ali Didi (Fuvahmulah City)

- Mohamed Falah Solih (Seenu Atoll Hithadhoo)

- Abdulla Bin Imjad (Male' City)

- Fathimath Hassan (Seenu Atoll Hithadhoo)

- Mohamed Aidin Najmy (Seenu Atoll Maradhoo)

- Abdul Basith Saleem (Gaafu Dhaalu Hoadehdhoo)

- Ammar Bin Ibrahim (Noonu Atoll Velidhoo)

This year a total of 65 individuals were awarded for top achievement, apart from Quran memorizers. The winners included 10 first-place achievers in their respective PhD degrees, 26 first-place achievers of their respective Masters degrees, and 15 individuals for first-place achievement in their degree standard courses.

Moreover, Mohamed Akram (Alifu Dhaalu Atoll Dhangethi) was awarded, in recognition for his innovative and productive contributions to the community. Capital Travel and Tours received the president's award for human capacity development and contributions to the tourism industry.
