Relocation of Thalassemia center to a new building in Hulhumale'

Health Minister Khaleel declared that the MBS center will be relocated to a building in Hulhumale' Phase 1. Stating that disrepair and space constraints are major issues within the current center, he announced that a new building has now been allocated.

Minister of Health, Dr Abdulla Khaleel declared on Wednesday night that arrangements have been made to relocate the Maldivian Blood Services (MBS) center, which also serves as a Thalassemia Centre, to a building in Hulhumale' City.

Speaking at the ceremony held last night to commemorate the international Thalassemia day, Khaleel revealed that the MBS is facing space insufficiency in their current building of operations and stated that some parts of the building have broken down due to old age.

The Minister assured that therefore, the government is giving utmost precedence to proceed relocation of their building and affirmed that a building to accommodate the Maldives Blood Bank Service has now been allocated from Hulhumale', Phase 1.

"Together with the assistance of individuals with the blood disorder, a space has now been confirmed from a building in Hulhumale Phase 1. With God's will, things will be arranged with their counsel, according to their wishes. I am happy to highlight that the resources that need to be established in the building has now been shared with Maldives Blood Bank Services after visiting the building," said the Minister.

He added that the design of the building has now been completed and that the present phase of action is securing financing for the project.

"I highlight with joy that it will be relocated to a new building, new place in the near future." assured Haleel.

He further declared that establishing a Thalassemia hospital in Maldives is a high priority of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and explained that this hospital will be developed to a standard that can also offer bone marrow treatments from within the country.

Minister Khaleel assured that state-of-art laboratories offering Thalassemia services and a blood bank will also be established in the country.
