Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid arrived in Finland on Wednesday on an official visit.
Upon arrival, he was received by Ambassador of Finland to Maldives Harri Kämäräinen.
According to the Foreign Ministry, Minister Shahid will meet his counterpart Pekka Haavisto and Education Minister Li Andersson.
In these meetings, discussions will be held on exploring avenues to further expand the existing bilateral relations between Finland and Maldives.
Minister Shahid is also scheduled to meet with the business community of Finland to reinforce trade ties between both countries.
Moreover, the Foreign Ministry revealed that an Air Service Agreement will be signed during this visit, which will allow international commercial air transport services between Maldives and Finland, enhancing the people-to-people contact as well as the broader economic cooperation.
Foreign Minister Shahid is accompanied by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, Non-Resident Ambassador of Maldives to Finland Ahmed Latheef, Minister of State for Economic Development Mohamed Iaad Hameed, and Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shiuneen Rasheed.
