Fasooha Ahmed won the Best Female Athlete award at the Grand Prix, setting a national record.
At the concluded Grand Prix, Fasooha broke the 1,500m record. Previously, the record was held by Aminath Jaisha Juneez, who is currently not participating in national-level tournaments.
Fasooha broke the record with a time of 5:4.2 (five minutes, 4.2 seconds). In the 2021 Grand Prix, Jaisha set the record with a time of 5:5.36 (five minutes, 5.36 seconds).
Fasooha, who competed from the Track and Field Association, also finished first in the 800m race, completing the race in 2 minutes and 19.73 seconds.
Fasooha now holds the national record in the 800m. In the national time trial held in May this year, she clocked a time of 2 minutes and 27.92 seconds.
The previous record was held by Aishath Reesha, who competed at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, Germany, finishing the race in 2 minutes and 28 seconds.
