Ahna Nizar and Kuda Riza Honored at Kulhudhuffushi

During the inaugural ceremony of the STO Makita Junior Athletics Championships in Kulhudhuffushi last night, the Athletics Association extended a special tribute to two athletes from the island, Ahna Nizar and Hussain Riza (Kuda Riza), who are integral members of the national athletics team.

The competition was officially commenced by Mayor Ahmed Athif of the Kulhudhuffushi City Council through a special event. Permission to initiate the tournament and kindle the ceremonial torch had been sought by Ahna and Kuda Riza.

Along with Kulhudhuffushi City Council Mayor Athif, President of Shaviyani Atoll Council, and Vice President of the Athletics Association, Ahmed Azeel also attended the event.

The Atolls Junior Athletics Tournament features the participation of 28 schools and seven clubs and is scheduled to run until Friday. The championship will see a total of 1,124 athletes, comprising of 505 females and 619 males, competing for Junior Championship.

Most of the competing schools are from Haa Dhaalu Atoll, with 12 schools participating, including Haa Dhaalu Atoll Education Center, Jalaluddin School, Afifuddin School, Haa Dhaalu Atoll School, Kumundhoo School, Nolhivaram School, Nolhivaranfaru School, Makunudhoo School, Hanimaadhoo School, Nellaidhoo School, Hirimaradhoo School, and Naavaidhoo School.

From Haa Alif Atoll, the participants include Atoll Education Center, Baarashu School, Ihavandhoo School, Haa Atoll. Atoll School, and Sheikh Ibrahim School. Sh. Atoll Educational Center, Sh. Atoll School, Sh. Feydhoo School, Vashafaru School, and Milandhoo School represent Shaviyani Atoll.

Other contestants come from Raa Atoll Rasmaadhoo School, along with Dhaalu Atoll School, and Alif Alif Atoll, represented by Himandhoo School and Ukullhas School. Addu City's Addu High School and Sharafuddin School are also participating.

The club organizations taking part include Shareef Sports, Club Mugu Sports, Club Raveriya, Club Calm Sports, KY Sports Academy, Naseer Sports Academy, and Track and Field Association.
