Hassan Saaid, who made history on Tuesday by winning Maldives' first gold in the men's 100-meters in the South Asian Games (SAG), went on to bag a bronze in the men's 200-meter dash on Wednesday.

Saaid finished the race in 21.22 seconds. Uzair Rehman, the Pakistani who came first, finished in 21.15 seconds.

Maldives' fastest athlete Saaid competes in men's 100-meters and 200-meters every tournament. However, due to his decreased performance in the last Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG), Saaid particularly focused on the 100-meters for SAG.

Saaid qualified for the 200-meters by securing third place in the heat, finishing the race in 21.83 seconds. Pakistan's Mohamed Shahba reached the finish line in 21.64 seconds, bagging the win, while Sri Lanka's Vinoj Suranjaya followed at his heel, clocking 21.70 seconds.

With this win, Saaid has now won four medals in the South Asian Games, including a gold from the men's 100 meters this Tuesday and two silvers at the 2016 SAG in men's 100-meters and 200-meters.

Saaid's aforementioned accomplishments, in addition to his IOIG wins - a bronze in 2019 and the gold and silver in 2015, make the 27-year-old the most successful athlete in Maldivian history.
