Judicial Service Commission has scheduled the final hearings for today in the cases of unduly influencing Criminal Court judges against suspended Supreme Court judges Dr Azmiralda Zahir and Mahaz Ali Zahir.
Judge Mahaz is to attend his hearing at 9am today, while Judge Azmiralda's hearing is scheduled for 10am, Mihaaru News reports.
As per JSC regulations, an investigative report has to be complained in cases against judges, and then presented to the judges.
Judges are then provided a window of seven days within which they can respond to the report, at which point a final hearing will be held.
Hearings today are the final hearings after the two judges were provided a deadline for responding to the reports.
JSC is also looking into cases against these two judges where they are alleged of being present when former Supreme Court Judge HusnuSuood had summoned High Court Assistant Registrar Hussain Mohamed Haneef and used derogatory language to address him.
Judges Mahaz and Azmiralda, as well as then Judge HusnuSuood, were suspended a short while after the parliament approved an amendment to reduce the number of judges on the Supreme Court bench from seven to five. Judge HusnuSuood later handed in his resignation.
