Azerbaijan Airlines will operate two weekly flights from Baku to the Maldives, using an Airbus B787E.
Azerbaijan Airlines has launched direct flights from Baku to Velana International Airport.
The first flight landed at 09:45 hrs yesterday.
Mohamad Mihad, Chief Commercial Officer of Maldives Airports Company Ltd. (MACL), which operates the airport, said the new route will strengthen transport links between Azerbaijan and the Maldives and offer a convenient route for tourists from Azerbaijan visiting the country.
Jamil Manizade, Chief Commercial Officer of Azerbaijan Airlines, noted that the launch of direct flights to a popular destination like Maldives during the winter season is a convenient option for Azerbaijani tourists.
