Tidal swelling over the weekend cause flooding in some areas of capital Male.
While the Alimas Carnival area in Henveiru district is the most affected, some of the water from there has seeped into the roads as well.
Additionally, large swells hit the Raalhugandu and Artificial Beach area on Saturday. Due to this, sand and rocks from the beach were swept ashore and on to Boduthakurufaanu Magu.
According to National Disaster Management Center, the City Council is taking the necessary safety precautions. The centre urged citizens to remove vehicles parked in the affected areas.
Furthermore, the centre revealed that they are receiving reports of flooding from tides in other islands as well and that they are closely monitoring those areas.
So far, the Disaster centre has not received reports of any houses or buildings being damaged due to the floods.
Maldives Meteorological Service issued a white alert on Thursday for the entire country predicting of tidal swells.
