ALIA gifts a Yamaha engine to maintain the Baa atoll biosphere reserve

ALIA Investments has donated a Yamaha 150 horsepower engine to the Environment Ministry for the purpose of maintaining the Baa atoll biosphere reserve which is supervised by the Ministry.

ALIA Investments PVT LTD, authorized distributor of Yamaha Products in the Maldives has gifted a 150 horsepower Yamaha engine to maintain the Baa atoll biosphere reserve.

The outboard engine was gifted to the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy wherein a department is tasked with supervising Baa atoll's rich biosphere reserve.

The engine was delivered by Managing Director, Alau Ali on behalf of ALIA which was received by the Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy, Thoriq Ibrahim.

Minister Thoriq said that this is the first gift donated to the government by an independent company in Maldives and stated that the gift is most valuable. He expressed gratitude in recognition of the assistance offered by the company which has been thriving as a successful trading company for 60 long years.

The Minister had also expressed hope that the solid relations established between the company and the Ministry will produce fruitful results.

ALIA Investments also said that the company hopes the engine gifted to supervise the biosphere reserve will prove to be a useful resource for the cause.

While 564 areas in 109 countries across all regions of the world has been designated as biosphere reserves , Baa atoll was included as a member and declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in June 2011.

UNESCO's research on the Baa atoll biosphere reserve concluded that the reserve is extremely rich in natural resources and cultural diversity, with the area recognized world-wide for its unique features.
