Provision of housing is a key pledge of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. This is the main reason behind forming a dedicated Housing Committee in this 20th Parliament, of which the supermajority is held by the ruling People's National Congress party.
It is a government policy that housing will be provided for all citizens by the end of this five year term.
