Resorts and guesthouses near capital city Male are almost completely booked for this Eid-Al-Fitr.
According to a few resorts, bookings for the Eid holidays began last week.
Paradise Island Resort's Manager Abdulla Saeed has revealed that resorts by the Villa Group have almost been completely booked for the period of the celebration.
As locals prefer to travel close to the city over the long weekend, most resorts close to Male introduced offers with rates in the MVR 3,000 range.
Guesthouse Association's President Ahmed Karam stated that the demand for guesthouses in the Male atoll region have also increased. He further said that the guesthouses offered rooms between MVR 500 to MVR 1,000 for locals and expats.
With Eid falling on a weekend this year, the demand for guesthouse and resort bookings close to the capital city have increased. However, the demand for guesthouses and resorts in other atolls experienced a decline due to the travel inconvenience.
