The former Vice President of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (BroadCom), Ahmed Gais, has been appointed as the new Deputy Managing Director of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) on Wednesday.
Gais was an active campaigner for President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih during the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) presidential primary. On January 8, he resigned from BroadCom to focus on the campaign.
Gais, who hails from Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo, said he wanted to resume his political career after stepping down from BroadCom's responsibilities after a three-year tenure.
He will be replacing Ahmed Athif, who was appointed as HDC’s Managing Director on September 4, 2022.
