Ooredoo Maldives launched a special sim dedicated for Hajj goers. The sim provides connectivity solutions for those undertaking the holy pilgrimage.
Ooredoo Maldives has introduced 'Saudi Passport', a special travel sim ahead of Hajj this year, offering affordable dedicated roaming services and seamless connectivity in Saudi Arabia.
The telecom company said that this sim will help those embarking on the holy pilgrimage to stay connected with their loved ones while also providing access to essential services throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia.
"We aim to keep our customers connected with their loved ones during their Hajj pilgrimage and provide access to essential services throughout their pilgrimage," said Ooredoo.
This sim will have 15 Gigabytes of data, 60 minutes of call time as well as 60 SMS while on roaming. Additional data used on this sim will cost only MVR 0.99 (USD0.065) per Megabyte.
Ooredoo says that this will make calling and using mobile data affordable for everyone while also making connectivity easy from all important sites at Mecca during Hajj.
Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said that this sim is an important step in making connectivity easy between Saudi Arabia and Maldives.
"Due to this work, communication becomes easy for those who are undertaking the holy pilgrimage of Hajj, [and also] shows Ooredoo's example in using technology to fulfil society's needs," the Minister said.
Ooredoo Maldives' CEO Khalid Al-Hamadi said that being able to connect with friends and family who are away is of great importance.
He said that Ooredoo's 'Saudi Passport' is one that has been designed for [customers] to be able to focus on Hajj [prayer activities] without worrying about connectivity issues [through] communication solutions that are affordable as well.
