HDC will be holding a draw next Sunday to select the 20 applicants who will get the kiosks placed in Hulhumalé Phase 2.
Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has decided to hold a draw on Sunday for the 183 parties who sent in their applications to secure one of the 20 kiosks being developed in Hulhumalé Phase 2.
The draw will be held on Sunday at 10:00 am on the sixth floor of Umar Zahir Building, said HDC.
According to the statement by the corporation, the kiosks will be leased for a period of one year at the rate of MVR 3,500 per month. HDC will also be charging an acquisition fee of MVR 5,000 and a lease deposit fee of MVR 10,500.
According to the HDC, applicants must be 18 years of age and must be the owner or resident of the Hiyaa flat. Applicants must also not be in debt to HDC, including any dues unpaid for flats or any business property.
HDC also mandates only locals to work at the kiosks, and has prohibited any expatriates being made to work there.
Other prohibitions include:
• Renting the kiosk to a third party
• Use of flammable oil, grease and gas
• Cooking, baking and frying any kind of food at the kiosk
• Keeping waste and garbage of any kind outside the kiosk
• Placing chairs and tables outside the kiosk
Previously the resident of Hiyaa flats operated unauthorised huts at the area. When HDC removed the huts there, the residents set up small huts in the lanes near the beach, which was also removed by the corporation.
The kiosks are a replacement for these huts.
