The contract for the construction of the new Arabiyya School has expired before any physical work has commenced on the building project.

Initially set to be completed within 420 days, the agreement was signed at the Education Ministry's event on September 29, 2022, with Aishath Ali and Amin Construction Secretary Ibrahim Nihad, who is in charge of overseeing the project.

Despite the selection of a group through selective bidding to expedite the construction on the land of the old Jamaluddin School, no significant work has commenced, except for the demolition of the old building. Well Trading was awarded MVR 2.4 million for the demolition, originally slated for completion in 75 days but took over 10 months.

Upon the contract expiration, it became evident that no progress had been made, attributed to a low budget allocated for the new building. The school had an allocation of MVR 6.4 million in this year's budget, with an additional MVR 6.2 million earmarked in next year's budget for a school construction in Malé City, though the specific school remains unclear.

Arabiyya School is allocated MVR 33 million in the upcoming year's budget.
