Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has launched a series of environmental awareness programs aimed at educating and engaging employees in line with its “Green Airport” initiative.

The first session of the series was held to mark the International Day of Zero Waste and focused on “Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and Hazardous Waste.”

Experts from the Ministry of Environment conducted the session, offering insights into the harmful effects of hazardous waste on the environment and best practices for its management.

Employees were also briefed on the vital role that corporations play in environmental protection and the standards to be upheld in hazardous waste disposal.

The program is being carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Environment, aligning with MACL’s broader sustainability goals.

As part of the “Green Airport” initiative, MACL plans to roll out a series of programs promoting energy efficiency and environmental sustainability across airport operations.
