Govt allocates 14 plots for schools in Hulhumale' Phase 2

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) on Monday awarded 14 plots of land for the development of schools in the second phase of reclaimed suburb Hulhumale'.

The facilities will cater to students from secondary to higher secondary.

According to HDC's Managing Director Suhail Ahmed, additional schools will be established on the first phase of the island as the population expands.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Education revealed that construction work for the first school would commence soon and that MVR 54 million was allocated from the 2020 state budget for the school.

The purpose of the new schools is to assist in transitioning the schools in the Greater Male' region into single-session. Previously, Minister of Education Aishath Ali noted that 10 schools were needed for the change.
