An individual has been arrested for a hit and run accident last Friday, where he was illegally overtaking another motorcycle, causing a crash, resulting in two left injured.
An individual has been arrested for a hit and run accident last Friday, where he was illegally overtaking another motorcycle, causing a crash, resulting in two left injured.
In relation to the case, Police arrested Shunan Mohamed, 22, of Fasmeeru, Baa atoll Eydhafushi. Presented in court, he has been placed in remand in custody for five days as the investigation proceeds.
Police said that the accident occurred on the Sinamale' Bridge, when Shunan was speeding and attempted to illegally overtake another motorcycle, crashing into it. Shunan sped away from the scene even as the two on the other motorcycle fell, sustaining injuries.
The injured are a Maldivian man and woman. The man has now been released from hospital after treatment, while the woman continues to receive treatment at the Hulhumale' Hospital.
The accident occurred at around 14:23 hrs on Friday.
