State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) have signed a contract today on collaboration in crisis management.
State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) have signed a contract today on collaboration in crisis management.
The agreement was signed by STELCO Managing Director Hussain Fahmy and NDMA Chief Executive Hisaan Hassan.
"We always work together with NDMA and State authorities when it comes to responding to national crises. However, we did not have an established protocol on national crisis management at the company. We do have codes of procedures for what to do in different circumstances that come up. We recognize the importance of doing so at a national level, and through discussions with the NDMA, today we have signed this MOU," Fahmy said at today's ceremony.
NDMA's Chief Executive Hisaan said that the Disaster Management Act clearly outlines the roles of companies in crisis management.
"We have come across many challenges in collaboration with companies in previous years. God willing, with this MOU we have signed with STELCO today, there are plans to do a lot of work in many areas together," he said.
He said that under the MOU, it has been planned to develop skills in employees of STELCO to be able to work with NDMA and ensure that the critical services they provide remain uninterrupted even in times of crisis.
