The Hajj Corporation announced it was seeking volunteers to assist pilgrims in their pilgrimage to Mecca this year.
The corporation first made the announcement on March 7, but failed to attract enough male volunteers; this is the second time the announcement is being made.
Eligible volunteers must have completed their primary education and be physically able to work for long hours. The responsibilities of volunteers include providing day-to-day information to pilgrims, assisting them with their needs, shopping for necessities, handling logistics and storage, and making food arrangements.
Interested volunteers must send the application form before 3:00 p.m. on March 22. The form is available on Hajj Corporation’s website.
The corporation said it will prioritize selecting individuals who can communicate in Arabic and Urdu and added that the total number of volunteers will be decided after reviewing the Hajj quotas it receives this year.
The Maldives has received 1,000 Hajj quotas, but the government has requested that the Saudi Arabian government increase it to 2,500.
