Teams from the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) have departed for two separate regions to meet with its members from across the country and discuss their views and ideals.
According to MDP spokesperson Anas Abdul-Sattar, the party is beginning their journey from the northernmost Haa Alifu atoll, and Gaafu Dhaalu atoll in the Maldives' south.
The MDP teams will be visiting every inhabited island in these atolls, he said.
Recently, the leadership of the party met with its ordinary members ahead of internal elections on behalf of the contesting candidates. Anas said that they would like to meet its members and discuss opinions and beliefs, as party delegates.
The main ruling MDP has begun preparations for the upcoming election for its presidential candidate, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, who will be contesting to secure a second term in office. However, no official campaign has been launched yet.
