Minister of Environment Dr Hussain Rasheed Hassan visited Meemu Atoll on Tuesday as part of his series of visits across the Maldivian archipelago.
During the official visit, the minister travelled to Kolhufushi, Muli, Mulah, Veyvah, Raiymandhoo, Naalaafushi and Maduvvari, where he held discussions with island and atoll councillors.
Much of the discussions revolved around the various environmental challenges faced by islands in Meemu Atoll, including soil erosion and waste management.
As part of the minister's visits to different parts of the country, he visited Thinadhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, earlier in November and signed agreements to establish a drainage system, develop a solar farm and install an incinerator on the island.
