Government announces January 2 as public holiday

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that Thursday, January 2, 2025, will be observed as a government holiday.

January 1, 2025, falls on a Wednesday, and the President has decided to declare Thursday a public holiday to provide government employees with an uninterrupted break.

The decision extends the New Year holiday, allowing for a continuous period of rest leading into the weekend.
