Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has called on Maldivian youth to acquire technical skills essential for addressing the challenges of modern warfare and safeguarding the nation's sovereignty.

Speaking at the official ceremony marking Huravee Day, the Vice President emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe and peaceful Maldives, highlighting that every citizen has a role in protecting the nation.

He urged the youth to embrace technical expertise, stating that no Maldivian wishes to see any part of the country ceded to others.

Acknowledging the sacrifices of historical heroes like Dhonban’daarain, VP Hussain encouraged young Maldivians to honor their legacy by actively contributing to national development.

He called for greater participation in government initiatives designed to equip youth with skills critical for achieving the country's development goals.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding national interests and individual freedoms.

VP Hussain highlighted the need to counter hybrid warfare and enhance cybersecurity as technology and artificial intelligence rapidly evolve. Efforts to address these challenges include technical support from relevant authorities, cybersecurity training, threat identification techniques, and combating disinformation, he said.
