An eight year old girl has passed away at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) after contracting dengue fever, said a media official of the hospital
However, further details have not yet been released.
IGMH pediatrician, Ahmed Faisal tweeted earlier that the number of children seriously ill with dengue is higher this year when compared to the past three years.
Many children have been treated in the ICU and have had to receive blood transfusions, he said.
This is the second minor who passed away due to dengue fever this year.
