A witness of the incident reports the scaffolding collapsed during a heavy rain shower with strong gusts this evening.
A video circulating on social media, shows the scaffolding collapsing from the Apollo tower which is under construction in Hulhumalé Phase one. Sounds of people screaming can also be heard in the video.
Along with another video of the area, Maldives Police Service in a post on X said that construction sites must have adequate safety protocols in place in case of bad weather.
"Please take precautions to avoid incidents like the one shown in this video from a construction site in Hulhumale' today."
Police said that they are active on site and the area near Apollo Towers.
