Chief Commissioner of Scout Association, Maeed has been conferred the Asia Pacific Regional Chairman’s Award to acknowledge and commend his services and leadership in advancing the Scouting community and its youth.
Chief Commissioner of the Scout Association of Maldives, Maeed Mohamed Zahir has been conferred the Asia Pacific Regional Chairman’s Award.
Maeed was presented his medal and commemorative certificate by the Chairperson of the Asia Pacific Regional Scouts Committee, Dale Bonkingo Corvera during the 11th Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Leaders Summit held in Bangkok, Thailand from April 24 to April 27.
The Asia Pacific Regional Scout Leaders Summit is held every three years for the purpose of gathering National Scout Organizations (NSO) to deliberate major regional changes and issues linked to World Scouting alongside developments in the field.
This year's Summit was organized by the National Scout Organization of Thailand and World Scout Bureaus Asia Pacific Support Centre and saw the participation of numerous Scout Organizations from the Asia and Pacific region.
Maeed was conferred his award in recognition of his services to the youth of the society both in the country and overseas alongside his contributions to scouting activities worldwide.
“He has demonstrated his commitment to the scouting community through his leadership roles and participation on various committees. For being an inspiration to future young leaders with an unwavering passion and dedication,” said Director of Educational Methods at World Scout Bureau Asia-Pacific Regional Support Centre in Makati City, Ysidro "Syd" Peralta P Castillo IV during the awarding speech.
Maeed's service at the World Scout Committee as the Youth Advisor in 2014 and service in the Youth Engagement and Educational Methods Unit of the Innovating Scouting Work Stream Core Team are commendable international feats that contributed to his receival of the award. Maeed presently serves as a consultant for the Organization of the Scout Movement Consultants (WOSM) in the areas of Youth Program and engagement services.
Alongside his services to the global scouting industry, Maeed’s commitment to his country is also trekked with exceptional feats. The National Scouting Association of Maldives had acknowledged his notable leadership roles in participating and initiating alteration procedures to the Scout Activity’s program and bringing this system up to date.
Maeed was further conferred the National Award of Recognition in 2020 for his voluntary services in building the youth and contributing to their development.
Prior to his appointment as Chief Commissioner of Scout Association in 2022, Maeed was the Chairperson of the Youth Program Committee. He has been actively engaged in serving various leadership roles to further advance the scouting community till present.
