Maldives Ministry of Health has signed a Letter of Exchange with the Chinese government in order to source equipment for seventeen laboratories with their aid today.

This letter was signed by Minister of Health, Abdulla Khaleel and the Chinese Ambassador to Maldives, Wang Lixin during a ceremony hosted at the Ministry of Health.

The Minister revealed that procuring laboratory equipment for 72 islands across the country within the next five years has been arranged under this agreement.

The letter of exchange signed today facilitates the procurement of devices required for seventeen health centers. The Ministry remarked that utilization of these equipment will allow the provision of firmer health services in these facilities while expediting treatment procedures and alleviating laboratory test operations.

Drafting a schedule for the project of expanding laboratory services essential for the healthcare of each populated island in the country and beginning implementation of these is an important pledge within this administration's week 14 roadmap. The project to facilitate laboratory services in each island currently lacking these resources was inaugurated by Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef who had further vowed to launch the scheme in 76 island before the beginning of May.
