The man sustained serious injuries in the incident.
Police Media Official said tonight that Police had attempted to take the 38 year old man into custody at 13:00 hrs today to present him at the Drug Court on a court order.
After the man fell off the roof, he was taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, they said, where he is currently receiving treatment.
The official said that the family of the man has serious concerns regarding the conduct of police in this incident. Due to this, Police have requested that their Professional Standards Command, the National Integrity Commission, as well as the Human Rights Commission of Maldives look into the matter.
Mihaaru News reports that the man sustained serious injuries to his head and spine in the fall.
The family's concerns arose because even after the fall the man was taken into custodial first instead of being taken to hospital.
He was later taken to hospital, where he had to undergo a surgery as well. Reports indicate that the man is in serious medical condition even at present.
