President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Tuesday, November 28, has reaffirmed unwavering support of the Maldives government and its people to the Palestinian people and their cause.
He also assured Maldives' commitment to assisting the Palestinian people "in every possible way."
President Muizzu made the statement while addressing the Chairman and Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Professor Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş and his fellow parliamentarians who were present at the parliament building in Ankara.
In his speech, President also noted that it was a great privilege and honor to choose Türkiye as the first country to visit after assumption of office, and emphasized the significance of being invited by the country's President Recept Tayyip Erdoğan.
He further conveyed delight and appreciation to the Turkish President and the continued support of the country to the Maldives while reflecting on the "fruitful discussions" the two presidents held.
President Muizzu highlighted the strategic geographical location of the Maldives, and pointed out the country's exclusive economic zone which encompasses a sizeable area, and accentuated its significance due to geographical dispersion.
He also underscored Maldivian government's efforts to collaborate with all stakeholders, and noted the importance of the country's sovereignty and independence.
In his speech at the Turkish parliament, President Muizzu reiterated the unwavering commitment of his government to fulfilling the aspirations of the Maldivian people, and delivering on his pledges.
