President of China, Xi Jinping, has sent a congratulatory letter to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on the occasion of his birthday yesterday.
The letter was presented to President Muizzu by Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Wang Lixin, who paid a courtesy call on the President yesterday.
June 15 is President Muizzu's birthday, with him marking 46 years this year. President Xi Jinping also shares the same birthday.
President Xi Jinping sent birthday felicitations in the letter. He went on to note the importance of China-Maldives relations and highlighted his resolve to further strengthen the China-Maldives Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, a statement on the President's Office website states.
The President thanked the Ambassador for personally delivering the letter. He also wrote a congratulatory message in return to President Xi Jinping.
During the meeting, President Muizzu and Ambassador Lixin discussed further improving bilateral relations between Maldives and China. Deliberations were held on future agreements, collaborations and development efforts.
Bilateral relations between China and Maldives have been strengthened in President Muizzu's administration, with the President's first State visit also having been to China last year.
