HDC demolished all unauthorised huts in Phase 2 of Hulhumalé this week.
Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has begun demolishing all unauthorised huts which were not removed from Hulhumalé Phase 2 within the duration provided.
The food huts, which were located near the 'ruhgandu' area and the beach area, were being operated without permits. As such, HDC ordered the removal of the huts before 15th June.
However, additional huts were opened since the notice was issued and business continued as usual.
In light of this, HDC began demolishing the huts and clearing the area this week.
Previously huts were also operated near the Hiyaa Flat area.
According to regulations, huts can only be operated in Hulhumalé with kiosk operating permits once HDC announces for applications.
Currently there are many such kiosks being run in Hulhumalé Phase 1, and are regularly monitored by HDC.
