2018 Hajj quota distributed to leading PPM members

Local media Mihaaru on Sunday reported that they attained possession of documentation which showed that the majority of the 1,000 additional Hajj quotas allocated to Maldives by Saudi Arabia was distributed to leading members of then-governing Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

Local media Mihaaru on Sunday reported that they attained possession of documentation which showed that the majority of the 1,000 additional Hajj quotas allocated to Maldives by Saudi Arabia was distributed to leading members of then-governing Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

According to Mihaaru, the documents state that the quotas were distributed to ministers that served during the former administration, and parliament members and political figures at different levels during the previous government. Additionally, certain members of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs received slots as well.
